Near FM

Near FM is the radio service of Near Media Co-op, a community-owned organisation serving Dublin’s Northside. Its schedule combines conversation, educational programmes, documentaries, radio drama and specialist music. The station offers access and training to local people and groups, with an emphasis on voices and subjects that receive less attention in mainstream media. Licensed community broadcasting began in 1995, and the current service runs throughout the day on 90.3 FM and online. Programmes are made by trained volunteers with support from staff. The Listen Again archive holds interviews and series beyond their original transmission, while the station’s base at the Northside Civic Centre provides contact and production facilities for its community.
